Today at school Colton got a dreaded color change... He has only had a couple so far this year and we have made it clear that he should not make a habit of getting them and this is not the behavior we expect of him. Being a teacher I know at times we have to make examples and sometimes are not as serious as others when he gets them. Today his class comes to lunch and he looks very sad when I go to talk to him, I ask if he got in trouble and he almost cries and says yes he got a color change so I ask him why. It was for talking when he wasn't supposed to. His teacher tells me what happened and says don't be to hard on him, lol! School is ending and the kids are leaving and I see him out of the corner of my eye go around the corner. He is supposed to still be sitting with who is left of his class. We start calling him and looking for him and can't find him and he isn't answering us. We are starting to panic because we can't find him, he is hiding from us! We probably all walked by him at least once. He is in big trouble then once we do find him. We typically go to Sonic for happy hour but not today we are learning consequences of our actions. He whines about this all the way home, the whole 5 minutes lol! I tell him if he says anything else about not getting to go to Sonic there will be no games today either. He pouts himself to a nap. When he wakes up he starts right where he left off whining about Sonic. I guess he was dreaming about it. Scott gets home and we are discussing the events of the day and talking to Colton about his actions. He said something about playing a trick on me by hiding and Scott said did you get to go to Sonic and Colton said no guess that makes the trick on me. I had to die laughing!! I was washing dishes, maybe he did get the point, we will see. It was a good opportunity to discuss why not to hide and all those topics too.
A couple of days ago he wanted Scott to play ATV racing with him. He calls it 3 wheels we have explained they are 4 wheelers but he refuses to accept this fact. Scott had to make some calls so I said I would play with him. They try to win so they can get more tracks and racers. My racing ability is lacking, to say the least, if I just finish before time runs out it is a miracle. Colton is very picky and wants to be in first place, gets upset if he messes up and all that kind of stuff so my racing is killing him. I am in last place running out of time and his face is like oh great! It just made me laugh to myself thinking of how many times in the future I will probably see that very same look. Not that I will love it when he gets older and it is oh great Mom how embarrassing but I just had a flash forward to the future I am pretty sure of that!
Just wanted to share some of our stories from this week.
